The Polk County Youth Fair is held every year in Bartow the last week in January.

The dates are Jan. 21st - 27th, 2012. The purpose of this fair is to show/display the projects participated in by 4-Hers, FFA (Future Farmers of America)

There are tons of areas from photography, canning, sewing, storytelling, tablesetting, animals, crafts, foods, plants etc that can be entered for judging. The Danish system of judging is used~ meaning each child's work is not judged compared to anyone elses, but rather individually. There are Blue, Red, White ribbons given, as well as Tri-color, for the best in show representation in each category. Click on the above website and look for Youth Fair at the Top..click on it and then click on Rules & Regulations  to see all the categories available to your child.  Some areas have entry deadline prior to January, such as horticulture and all animals. All others are entered in January on non-perishable day (Tuesday, Jan. 18th~includes Cake auction entry & recipee form, Child developement, Clothing exhibits, Demonstrations/Illustrated talks entry form, Educational Exhibits, Food Preservation Exhibits, Home Furnishings, Mannequin Modeling check-in, Metal Works, Photography Exhibits, Sew-Off contest Entry forms, Storytelling Entry Forms, Tablesetting & Menu Planning Entry, Working Booth Entry, and Woodworking Exhibits) or perishable day (Friday, Jan. 21st ~ includes all food except for Preserved (canned) foods.
